We celebrated our British friend’s birthday in the North Georgia Mountains, during an incredible weekend trip planned by Sofia (who’s an incredibly gifted is party planner). The first night we enjoyed a proper beef wellington, the first one I’ve ever had in my life, and if you’ve never put truffle oil in your mac and cheese, it’s a game changer. I’m saying this as a lactose intolerant and dairy allergic person who ate some regardless of the ramifications.
The gift baskets Sofia designed were awesome: personalized tumblers, a bottle of wine, a smore’s kit and massage oil labeled eat, drink and play. The would be an awesome favor for any birthday party as well as bachelor/bachelorette or wedding weekend if you’re having a cabin getaway for a group.
The cabin rented via air bnb had a hot tub with an amazing view. Sofia had planned hikes at nearby trails, and the best activity was the drinking rules at the dinners. The first night had a rule that the group drinks any time I mention I can’t eat dairy (do you see how we’d all be a shot in three paragraphs into this blog?). The second night we had to drink if our friend mentioned soccer. He was wearing a soccer for all shirt that night. It’s definitely an activity idea that’s incredibly memorable. Sofia also had a creepy looking pinata made to look like the birthday boy.
The best part of carne asada is it makes for awesome leftovers and breakfast tacos. Carting up all these instagrammable details, food including Carniceria marinated meat, and beverages to the mountains two hours away was a little overwhelming, but made for a great experience. The added bonus being leftover tacos for a week.
